Darby joined DVH in December, 2014. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Darby’s love of the outdoors is what drew her to Seattle 4 years ago. Darby started working in the veterinary field as a teenager, and later worked as a human paramedic. As her veterinary career progressed, she shifted her focus to emergency/specialty medicine and management where she has been for the past 15 years. Throughout her career, she has taken part in the opening of new ER/Specialty hospitals, developing and directing a canine & feline blood bank with over 80 volunteer donors, and overseeing large teams of technicians. She has been instrumental in creating standard operating procedures, hospital manuals, and technician development curriculum at a wide variety of hospitals. Darby has a passion for working with both administrative and technical staff to create a cohesive, efficient, and positive hospital environment. In her free time, Darby enjoys working with her horses and dogs, spending time with family, and is a coordinator for a local Belgian Malinois rescue.
