Dr. Michelle Gengler purchased Duvall Veterinary Hospital in June, 2014. Prior to purchasing DVH, Dr. Gengler worked in the Puget Sound area as a small animal veterinarian. She began her career completing a 1 year Small Animal Surgical and Medicine Internship with a corporate practice, then moved up in that practice, working as an Associate Veterinarian, then Lead Veterinarian. While there, Dr. Gengler was involved with researching new medications and therapies, supervising veterinary students and new graduates involved with the practice, training veterinary support staff, and coordinating the schedules of 3 other doctors to ensure the best attention and care for the large patient load. From there, Dr. Gengler moved to a 24/7 emergency hospital, where she worked overnights and weekends, attending to a multitude of emergency cases. Emergency practice allowed Dr. Gengler to further her surgical skills, as well as become more proficient in multitasking.
While working as an emergency clinician, Dr. Gengler started Gengler Veterinary Relief Services (later becoming Gengler Veterinary Services), a company focused on providing Veterinary Relief services in the Puget Sound and surrounding areas.
After 2 years as an emergency clinician, Dr. Gengler accepted an Associate Veterinarian position at an independently owned small animal daytime practice. This change allowed Dr. Gengler to gain valuable knowledge about small business ownership, client care, staff hiring and maintenance, and hone her General Practitioner skills. Additionally, Dr. Gengler was able to increase her time working as a Relief Veterinarian, and build a large client base for her services, including housecalls. In 2013, Dr. Gengler chose to focus on her Relief career full time. This shift allowed her to learn about different practice management styles in a variety of daytime and emergency clinics, and lead her to DVH and the subsequent purchase of her own practice.
Dr. Gengler enjoys attending Continuing Education classes, and furthering her knowledge and skills. She loves the diversity that General Practice offers, and cherishes the time spent with patients from early life through their golden years. And, she has special interest in Behavior, Dermatology, Soft Tissue Surgery, Hospice and End of Life Care.
Dr. Gengler is an active member of multiple professional organizations, including: the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association, the Puget Sound Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, the Veterinary Information Network, and the Duvall Chamber of Commerce. She is fully accredited by the APHIS/USDA National Veterinary Accreditation Program.
When not at DVH, Dr. Gengler can be found exploring local beaches, mountains, or out seeing a band perform, as she loves the Seattle music scene!
